Barnardo's is the leading children's charity in the UK working with over 190,000 children, young people and their families every year helping build the future and confidence of our most vulnerable children. Barnardo's is helping children who are growing up in the most difficult of circumstances dealing with problems ranging from poverty and ill health to homelessness and disability. Their aim is to help every child turn their life around.

Barnardo's vision today is the same as it was in 1866 when Thomas Barnardo came to London to find children sleeping on the streets and begging for food. Barnardo's still believe that the lives and children and all young people should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. They pledge to support the abused, vulnerable, forgotten and neglected, stand up for them and give them a chance to fulfil their potential.

One in three children in the UK has to make do without basic essentials like adequate clothing or three meals a day. You'll make a real differece by sponsoring a Barnardo's Child desperate for your help. You'll be given your own personalised website where you'll get regular feedback from your sponsored child and their Barnardo's project worker.

Barnardo's Child Sponsorship is your chance to help vulnerable children and young people close to home! Help keep a child safe this Christmas!

How your donations to Barnardo's will be used?

Barnardos Child Sponsorship

For every £1 received by Barnardo's, 95p goes directly to Barnardo's work with children and young people. You can be confident your sponsorship money is making a real difference. Barnardo's transforms the lives of vulnerable children in a number of ways with your donations:

  • Working with children and young people in the areas of child poverty, abuse and exploitation, homelessness, substance misuse, children in care, domestic violence and disability
  • Youg carers looking after older dependants
  • Fostering, adoption and short break care
  • Parenting support
  • Campaigning - currently 'Cut Them Free' and 'Kids Inside'
  • Lobbying government to influence and change government policy
  • Advertising campaigns to raise awareness of Barnardo's charity work
  • Research based on direct work with children and young people

Donating and sponsoring a Barnardo's child are just two ways you can make a difference. You can help in other ways from giving your time and fundraising to volunteering and campaigning. Help let children be children!
